Miller Elementary School

This year the 100th day of school is Friday, February 3rd.   Students will go into their family groups for activities in the afternoon.

 There are several fundraiser days scheduled for Miller School, Please note the events:

January 27th - HAT DAY

Students will be allowed to wear a hat during school hours on January 27th for a donation of $1.00 towards

Telemiracle.

February 2nd

At noon on Thursday, February 2nd, the Miller Telemiracle Committee will be selling treats for a $1.00 donation. The students will be able to choose from either a rice crispie square or puffed wheat square or a  muffin during the noon hour lunch.

February 6th – 17th – DONATION TRAIN

For the 2 weeks between February 6th and February 17^th each classroom will make a donation train. Each classroom will have a train engine on the wall outside their classroom.  Each donation that the student makes will be put on a boxcar and “hitched” behind the engine. As added incentive, the classroom with the highest donation total will have ice cream snacks one afternoon.

 Once again Miller School will be packaging school kits for needy students.  This year the supplies will be going to Ethiopia. Each kit will contain a notebook, pencil, eraser and ruler in a plastic bag. Students will be completing “Fascinating Facts about Me” sheets to place in the kits that will be put together.  As well as student packages, we would like to send a teacher package. If you have any of the items listed below, please send them with your child so that we can package a teacher box to go along with the students’ package. Items may include Ziploc bags, markers, pens, calendars, paper, notebooks, stickers, crayons or any other school  supplies that a teacher might use. The students will put together the kits on Thursday, February 2.

Miller School

Our school will be going skating once again thanks to Melville Minor Hockey. Please find skates and a helmet for your child as this is a wonderful opportunity to have fun, practice skills or learn how to skate. This year all skating will be at the Horizon Credit Union Center between 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Not all students will go on the same day so please note the correct day for your child.

Jan. 27 – Gr. 3 and 4

Feb. 3 – Gr. 3 and 4

Feb. 10 – K, Gr. 1 and 2

Feb. 16 – K, Gr. 1 and 2

Feb. 17 – Gr. 3 and 4

We have some helmets and skates if anyone needs to borrow them for this season. All students require a helmet and gloves or mitts (wearing a CSA approved helmet is recommended).

 ‐ The area from the blueline to the boards (nearest the entrance) will be designated for beginning skaters.

‐A reminder to all skaters of the need for extra caution and control on the ice including the common procedure of skating in the same direction.
